Abstract	The interviews with William Lovan took place at his home in La Grande. At age 76, Bill is physically vigorous and alert mentally. The interviewer was Eugene Smith, Executive Director of the Union County, Oregon History Project. He completed the one-and-a-half-hour interview on February 8, 2003 and a one-half-hour interview on September 19,2003.
