Abstract Four interviews with Pat Fitzgerald took place in his La Grande residence of 50+ years. At age 84, Pat, who appears to be healthy, mentally and physically, lives with his wife of 63 years, Helen, also a native of Union County.

The first interviewer was John Turner, a volunteer with the Union County, Oregon History Project. He completed a one-hour interview on June 10, 2002. Eugene Smith was the second interviewer on August 5 and 13 and September 10, 2002.
